PORTLAND — Less than two weeks after the armed occupation of an Oregon wildlife refuge ended, the FBI says they are done going through to check for explosives and any stragglers who may have stayed behind.
But even as the focus has shifted to the courtroom, with some of the people indicted for the occupation arraigned on Wednesday, authorities say that other people could soon be charged for the weeks-long takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
So far, 25 people have been indicted for the Oregon wildlife occupation — 16 of them earlier this month and another nine not long after. Some of these people have also separately been charged for the armed standoff at Cliven Bundy’s Nevada ranch in 2014. (ANTIMEDIA) Philadelphia, PA — A federal appeals court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has ruled that filming the police without a specific challenge or criticism is not constitutionally protected.
The cases of Fields v. City of Philadelphia, and Geraci v. City of Philadelphia involve two different incidents where individuals were arrested for filming the police. Richard Fields, a Temple University student, was arrested after stopping to take a picture of a large group of police outside a house party. Amanda Geraci, a legal observer with CopWatch Berkeley, attended a large protest against fracking in September 2012 and was arrested while filming the arrest of another protester. Cliven Bundy has recently been arrested and indicted for the standoff at the Bundy Ranch two years ago, falsely accused of brandishing weapons at the standoff when he was not even present. InfoWars journalists who reported live from Bunkerville during the standoff and for several days leading up to it, never witnessed Cliven Bundy carrying arms.
